Squalene (Shark Liver Oil)
Shark liver oil contains high amount of squalene (consisting about 30% to 40%), which is a polyunsaturated oil found in several plants and animals.
Squalene is one of the major components of the skin surface lipids and it is synthesised in the liver. It is an antioxidant that fight against free radicals and curb its damage.
Shark liver oil (and squalene) is traditionally and historically used to treat arthritis, psoriasis and other skin related problems.
Serving as an excellent moisturiser ingredient, squalene helps stabilise skin's barrier against harmful factors (such as UV rays, pollutant and infection) and maintain skin's moisture. It is also easily absorbed and does not feel greasy upon application.
