Turmeric is a bright yellow plant from the ginger family that is native to Southeast Asia and India.
It has a long history of culinary and medicinal use, particularly due to its active component - curcumin, a type of polyphenol that gives turmeric its bright yellow colour. Curcumin is well-studied for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that make it useful in managing several health conditions.
