Lai Fu Zi (Semen Raphani Preparata)
Type: Herb
Latin Name: Semen Raphani Preparata
Chinese Name: Lai Fu Zi
Lai Fu Zi , also known as dried radish seed, is a type of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that is commonly used to promote stomach and lung health.
In TCM theory, Lai Fu Zi promotes "qi" circulation in the body and prevents stagnation, which makes it a powerful herb for digestion.
Firstly, using the movement of "qi", Lai Fu Zi promotes healthy digestion, dissipates food stagnation and prevents gastrointestinal distention, which can cause digestive issues such as acid reflux, bad breath, as well as stomach and abdominal pain. Lai Fu Zi has also been traditionally used to relieve kidney stones with its diuretic properties. This is why white radish soup is often consumed after a heavy meal.
Secondly, Lai Fu Zi supports lung health by directing "qi" downwards, helping to get rid of the phlegm caused by wet cough and dyspnea, reduces chest pains caused by food stagnation and manages asthma symptoms.
Lastly, Lai Fu Zi is rich in Vitamin Bs and C, as well as other minerals and antioxidants to help reduce oxidative stress. Certain flavonoids in Lai Fu Zi can also help to protect heart health and reduce your risk of high blood pressure, heart attacks and stroke.
